My work exists so that I can confront the momentous, often challenging parts of life in a way that honors and beautifies them. If I can take something that is tragically sad or burning with anger and make it fascinating and beautiful, then viewers will actually want to sit with those difficult things. And hopefully, the very act of sitting with the difficult parts of life is enough to help start the process of healing. That's my ultimate hope- that through art I can make life's hardships beautiful and therefore not so scary or terrible to confront. Art is the gift of mending and making whole that which is broken.
