Why not? Everyone is searching for answers to big questions—about life, love, and being, and we don't know how to answer them. Maybe art can.
What does your work aim to say?
I prefer to leave it to open interpretation. Art can have so many readings, guiding the viewer can ruin the experience of finding out for yourself.
What motivates/inspires you?
Very inspired by cinematographic language. Colors, compositions, blocking. I’m always remembering movie references when I do collage.
What role does the artist have in society?
Joy, interaction, and inspiration, but also thoughtful critique to our political, economic, and social systems.
How do you navigate the art world?
I spend more time making stuff in my workshop than navigating the art world. I don’t consider myself as important as my work so whenever I can, I let the art speak for it
What themes do you pursue?
I like occultist themes, animal life, politics and overall weird stuff.
What is your dream project?
Big collages in public spaces, meters high. Would love to document the degradation of paper over time.
How have your themes or practice changed over time?
Yes, I’ve become more cynical with the years and now my work is very driven by political events of my country and the world.
When did you become interested in collage? How has it shaped your practice? What parallels do you see between creating art and collecting beautiful things?
I stumbled upon collage at a very young age, but it wasn’t until later that started doing it. I think is a very democratic medium, you don’t need much more that scissors and glue. Also, it’s not elitist as other art communities since is smaller and tighter. Every collage artist I know is also a collector, is part of the mystique of the medium.
What are some of your favorite symbols?
Arcane symbols, esoteric and eldritch symbology.
What superpower would you have and why?
Glue-free Fingers, I hate glue stains on my collages.
