This piece was created using soft-core pencil, pastel and graphite on high quality, 300 gsm mixed-media paper. The textures are created using smudging and color transfer overlay. Subtle variations in texture is achieved by scraping, erasing or wiping off material and exposing what is underneath.The art is not representative in the traditional sense in that it is not supposed to look like something specific. Rather it is a distillation or combination of things observed and felt and thought about in the everyday. This piece was inspired by a long spell of gloomy wet wintry weather and then an unusually heavy snow storm.
